Choose a utility by the problem

Cleanup, compression and process management solve different problems. Pick the job first.

Name the symptom

Write one sentence describing what is happening: the drive is nearly full, an archive will not open or the computer becomes unresponsive during a particular task. Each points toward a different investigation. A general promise to optimize everything is too broad to evaluate.

Use a small baseline

Repeat the affected task and note the time, free space or behavior that matters. Check what your operating system already offers before adding software. If you try a utility, apply one relevant change and compare the same task again.

Keep the cost visible

Compare the free, trial and paid options, including renewal or license limits. Read what a cleanup action removes before approving it. Do not judge a tool only by the number of items it reports: useful results are tied to your workload and a change you can explain.
